What file formats can be imported using Rightworks Transaction Pro Importer into QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT)?

RESOLUTION

Below is a list of different file formats that will work with Importer to import into QBDT:

• Excel files (all formats are supported from Office 2003 and forward including Office 365)
• CSV files (also known as comma separated value)
• TXT files (comma, pipe and tab delimited files are all supported)
• Quicken Files (qif file extension and are used to import bank statement activity)
• Microsoft Money Files (ofx file extension and are used to import bank statement activity)
• Microsoft Access Databases (mdb file extension)
• ODBC compliant databases such as SQL

Additional Points to Consider

Header Row: Many files have a descriptive title at the top of each column of data, which makes it easier to select the correct import file column from the Importer mapping screen. However, a header row is not required in the import file. Importer must be told if the import file has a header row by selecting the checkbox next to FILE HAS FIELD NAMES IN FIRST ROW on the File Contents screen (second window of Importer).

Pre-Defined Header Row: There is not a need to use a specific template for the import with specific header titles. Whatever data that is in the header row of the import file can be used, and Importer will only import the columns that are mapped to QB fields. An unlimited number of columns can be in the import file, and the columns can be in any order.

However, if Transaction Pro's sample import files are used that can be downloaded HERE, mapping will not have to be manually completed. On the mapping window, select the FIELD MATCH button at the bottom of the Importer mapping window to automatically match each column up to the corresponding QB field.
