What file formats are supported to be imported with Rightworks Transaction Pro Importer into QuickBooks Online? What other file requirements are there for importing into QuickBooks Online with Importer?

RESOLUTION

The following file formats can be imported with Importer into QuickBooks Online:

• Excel 365 (.xls, .xlsx, .xlsb)

• Excel 2007-2016 (.xls, .xlsx, .xlsb)

• Excel 2003 (.xls)

• Comma Separated Value (.csv)

Other requirements:

• Maximum Import File Size: 4MB or 5000 rows

• Column headers must be in the first row

• Multi-line transactions must have the same reference number (RefNumber) for all rows of the same transaction

Data Formatting Tips:

• If Accounts are part of the import file, include only the lowest Sub-Account Number OR the entire Account Name with each level separated with a colon and no space before or after the colon (ie. Account:SubAccount)  

• If using Sub-Customers, Jobs, Sub-Classes, or Sub-Items in the import file, include the parent and the child in the same column with a colon separating the levels with no space before or after the colon (ie. Item:SubItem, Customer:SubCustomer, Customer:Job)
