QUESTION
If exporting from QuickBooks Desktop using Rightworks Transaction Pro Exporter and then importing the data back into a QuickBooks Desktop company file, all of the column names do not match exactly. Are there pre-defined maps that can be used for the process?
RESOLUTION
When the data is exported from QuickBooks using TPro Exporter, some of the column names do not match the field names on the mapping window of TPro Importer, causing the user to have to manually map some fields. However, Transaction Pro has created these maps in order to save time and minimize the chance of missed fields.
Please locate and download the zip file attached this file under ATTACHMENTS (below article). The file contains a map for every import type that can be completed with Transaction Pro Importer into QuickBooks Desktop.
Please note that there may be some fields on the Importer mapping screen that are not included in the exported file. Please always verify the mapping before proceeding with the import.
Some fields that are not mapped are any custom fields (will appear at the bottom of the fields list on the mapping window), multi-currency fields, e-Commerce-related fields, Advanced Inventory-related fields, and if you are using the Other fields in either the header or detail lines. If any of these fields are being used, they will need to be manually mapped once the map has been loaded.
If exporting Item Assembly List with TPro Exporter to import into a new QuickBooks Desktop company file, note that the Parent Name (if any) is not exported into a separate column. Instead Exporter exports in the same column as the Assembly Item Name as Parent Name:Assembly Item Name. Therefore, before importing with Importer, the column will need to be separated into two separate columns in Excel.
